Heb 11:30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days. 31 By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace. These 2 short verses concerning the second generation of Israel to come out of Egypt as they entered the land under Joshua and overthrew Jericho, provide the basis for an incredible type. a). Not only a type for the future destruction of Gentile world power, but also a type for a great multitude of eternally saved Gentiles who will come alive out of the Tribulation. b). In past week’s we have been putting these types and antitypes together to see what the Lord would teach us from them. c). As we have covered a great deal of detail in this time, I thought it might be helpful if we go back over this detail through a series of charts to help us place everything in its proper place. 2). 16R – Slides 1-6 3). 16R – 2 – Slides 1-7 4). 16R – 3 – Slides 1-3 5). 16R – 4 – Slides 1-4 6). The Final Piece – As a result of the ministry of the 144000 there will be a great multitude of Gentiles who will be both eternally saved and will also have received the Gospel of the Kingdom which the 144000 will preach. a). And this parallels Rahab’s experience at Jericho – Jos 2:10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. 11 And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath. 12 Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by the Lord, since I have shown you kindness, that you also will show kindness to my father's house, and give me a true token, 13 and spare my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.” There are 2 things we will note here. Firstly, Rahab believed that which God had done in the past and believed He would do again at Jericho. And as a consequence. she saved the lives of the spies in anticipation of what was to come next. And secondly her actions were the result of faith. b). And Rahab is like Ruth in that we see only those who would be faithful pictured in Rahab, as we had only seen the faithful Christian pictured in Ruth. c). Joshua and Hebrews are not the place to see unfaithful eternally saved Gentiles, but Matthew 25 is. d). A great multitude of Gentiles will be eternally saved and will receive the Gospel of the Kingdom preached by the 144000. There will be those who hear and believe, as seen in Rahab, who will, at risk to their own lives, protect and minister not only to the 144000 but to Jews wherever they will be found. e). And this is the basis for the ‘sheep and goat judgment’ in Matthew Chapter 25. f). Those eternally saved Gentiles who protect and minister to the Jews during the 3 ½ years of the Great Tribulation will be rewarded with a place of rulership in Christ’s Kingdom, but those who don’t, those who fail to act by faith as Rahab did, will be excluded. It really is as simple as that. 16R – 5 – Slides 1-4 More next time – if the Lord is willing. Sunday August 18th 2019 The Word of God A Survey of the Bible – Lesson 16R ‘Let Us Go On’ 1).
